JOINT WORKING GROUPS (JWG)
Chapter 3 of the Agreement concerning a new relationship between le gouvernement du Québec and the Crees of Québec prescribes the creation of Joint Working Groups made of Cree representatives and the MRNFP. There is a Joint Working Group in each of the communities involved in forestry, that is to say Waswanipi, Mistissini, Oujé-Bougoumou, Waskaganish and Nemaska.
These Joint Working Groups are at the core of integration and implementation of forest modalities on the territory identified in chapter 3 of the Agreement. Part of their mandate is also to set up creation, consultation and follow-up processes for the forest management plans. Interrelations between the Cree-Québec Forestry Board and the Joint Working Groups on forestry are the backbone of the adapted forestry regime resulting from the Paix des Braves.
